Procurement Technician – Library of Congress

Position Overview
This position is located in the Contracts and Grants Directorate within the Chief Operating Officer’s office at the Library of Congress. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.

Who Can Apply

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain work logs, track assignments, and keep the supervisor informed to ensure timely actions.
  • Provide customer support by responding to program-related information requests.
  • Independently gather data, prepare reports, and make recommendations to supervisors.
  • Integrate several software types (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, word processing) to generate reports and documents.
  • Track contract and order statuses through the Library’s financial system, including maintaining paper files and contact with staff and contractors.
  • Assemble contract files, verify administrative information, and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, contracts, and other procurement documentation.
  • Review contract files for required documents and clauses.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Library procedures during procurement processes.

Requirements

Applicants must have progressively responsible experience and training in the following areas:

  • Ability to provide procurement and contract administration support.
  • Ability to offer office systems support (e.g., software and database management).
  • Organizational skills to plan and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with others.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
